I started Amber Elm is an ambient/classical project where I could explore sounds and write music with the end goal of enjoying it on its own. I sincerely hope that you find that it resonates with you as well.
I am a composer living in Austin TX.. I have always loved music, but early in high school wasn't sure I wanted to dive into it as a career. After attending a summer program (CSSSA), and meeting other artists that had the same passion for the arts as I did, my mind was made up and decided to make serious steps to pursuing music as a lifelong passion. I studied classical piano under Rosy Sackstein, and Vicky Ray while attending Cal Arts from 2000-2004. While in college I started studying and appreciating world music and composition. While playing in various punk/emo bands before and through college, I always enjoyed classical music, jazz, and film scores. I decided to pursue the latter after school. After some successes and failures, banging my head against the wall trying to write music to picture, I decided to start a project in which the end result wasn't serving something else.
